  13. I am posting this message on behalf of my father who lives in
  14. Malaysia.

  16. I bought a USR modem 28.8 PC-Card very recently. I got it working
  17. under a Toshiba Tecra 700 CT and Win95 for data communication using
  18. Win95 PPP. However, I could not get it to work with most brand of fax
  19. machines. I have tried faxing using WinFaxPro 7.0 and 7.0.2. The
  20. symptoms are the fax transmission will usually fail a brief period of
  21. handshaking attempt.

  23. I also have a New Media 14.4K PC-Card fax-modem which I managed to get
  24. it to work on one way faxing : from the 700CT laptop to a Sharp fax
  25. machine. However, I could not get it to work for receiving  faxes from
  26. the Sharp fax machine.

  28. I have also borrowed a Hayes Optima 14.4K PC-Card modem to try out.
  29. The problem is the same as the USR modem, cannot fax at all.

  31. I really think the problem lies in the Tecra 700CT as three separate
  32. PC-Card all fail on the same laptop. Has anyone experienced the same
  33. problem? Is there a workaround ...?

  36. - Toshiba Tecra 700CT with 16Meg Ram
  37. - Win95
  38. - USR Sportster 28.8K PC-Card Modem (fail to fax completely )
  39. - New Media 14.4K PC-Card Modem (can fax but can receive incoming fax)
  40. - Hayes Optima 14.4K PC-Card (fail to fax completely)
  41. - WinFaxPro 7.0.2
